The J. Reuben Long Detention Center is the County Jail that services the Horry County region of the Grand Strand of South Carolina.

This includes the following areas:

City of Myrtle Beach

City of North Myrtle Beach

City of Conway

Town of Aynor

City of Loris

Town of Atlantic Beach

Town of Surfside Beach

Town of Briarcliffe Acres

Those who are arrested by the police departments of the cities and towns listed above will usually be afforded an initial bond hearing at the Municipal Court on the morning after the arrest.  If the defendant can’t make the initial bond, they are usually then transported to the J. Reuben Long Detention Center.

Bond hearings at the detention center are held daily (up to three times a day) and can be a defendant’s first, and best, chance to get out of jail.  Our firm routinely represents defendants at their initial bond hearing as well as at bond reduction hearings.
